Grade 6 & Town Council Meet!
The Grade 6 Stony Creek Parent Partnership kids had the opportunity to speak with Councilor Anderson from our local Stony Plain town council. Mr. Anderson is also a teacher with Connections for Learning! The students had prepared questions in advance for Mr. Anderson and he was able to provide real-life examples that brought the social studies curriculum to life. Questions like "Do you ever get into arguments in meetings?" or "What is the hardest part of your job?" It gave perspective into the council decision making process and the challenges of trying to meet citizens' needs while balancing a budget. We also learned that one of our grade 6 student's Grandma used to babysit Councilor Anderson! Thanks so much, Mr. Anderson for taking the time to discuss your role in our local government!
