Student Responsibilities and Commitments
The Junior High Learning Hub is designed to support students in achieving success through flexible and personalized programming. To make the most of this opportunity, students are expected to:
- Be engaged and active participants in their learning.
- Respect the learning environment so all students can thrive.
- Demonstrate responsibility in attending, completing work, and following through on commitments.
- Work collaboratively with peers, staff, and parents/guardians to support both academic and personal growth.
Should concerns arise regarding a student’s engagement, participation, or respect for the learning environment, the following steps will be taken:
Step 1. A meeting will be scheduled with the teachers, administration, and parents/guardians (and the student, if appropriate). The purpose of this meeting is to identify the concerns, ask “What can we do to help?”, and determine if adjustments to programming or scheduling are needed.
Step 2. If, after two weeks, there are no improvements, the student’s schedule will shift to (voluntary) Thursday evenings for further support. An opportunity for the drop in for academic and social support on Thursdays 430-730.
Step 3. Once the student demonstrates increased engagement and readiness, and with the agreement of teachers and administration, they can return to their regular in-person schedule at the Hub.
Step 4. If a student is not yet ready to return to in-person learning at the Hub, alternative options will be explored. These may include continuing with Thursday evening drop-off and pick-up of modules or transitioning back to their designated school to ensure ongoing support and success.
