What's New in the Grade 6/7 Stony Creek Program?

Wow, what a busy start to our new year!  All the students are settling in and continuing to get to know each other.  It has been wonderful to have new additions to the class, joining our learning community, and the other students are stepping in to be excellent leaders in the transition.

First, Halloween celebrations are on Friday October 29th in the morning.  Students should come dressed in their Halloween costumes.  Whole school activities will occur throughout the morning outside.  Be sure students have gear to keep them warm while we enjoy time together participating in the planned activities.  If your child is sharing any items such as candy with the class it needs to be store wrapped items that disinfectant can be applied to the wrapper before being consumed.

Secondly, our class is very fortunate to receive funding from Jumpstart to support a trip to Camp Yowochas on Friday November 5.  This is an excellent camp that has fun and challenging activities for students to build opportunities including outdoor education, team building, experiential education, leadership development, environmental education, and outdoor recreation.  I am attaching the information letter for the day and will be sending home permission forms today with each student as well.  Please review, sign, and return the forms by Thursday October 28 if you would like your child to attend.  It should be a wonderful day of challenges and learning opportunities to grow as leaders!
