The school is set up with multi-graded classrooms. Teachers plan classroom activities that parents are required to attend for a half day each month.
Tuesdays and Thursdays are spent at school and focused on Science, Social Studies and options courses. Literacy and numeracy concepts are included in these courses, which use a cross-curricular approach to support home-based learning in these areas.
Tuesdays, Thursdays and alternate Mondays are spent at school and focused on literacy, as well as Science and Social Studies. Literacy and numeracy concepts are included in these courses, which use a cross-curricular approach to support home-based learning in these areas.
The home component of the Parent Partnership program is administered by parents in consultation with teachers, who conduct home programming visits, collaborating with parents to create programs that meet the learning outcomes of the Alberta curriculum.
Parents have the flexibility to choose resources which they feel meet the needs of their children. Home programming visits with teachers occur monthly and may be supplemented by workshops at CFL to assist parents with skills and strategies to support their home instruction.
Parents are required to attend the Annual Parent Orientation Meeting at the start of each school year. Each family is required to take on a volunteering role to enrich the program for students in the classroom. In addition to the required monthly classroom volunteering, other opportunities include (but are not limited to):
Students in Grades 1-6 spend Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at home, focusing on Language Arts, Math, Physical Education and Wellness, and supplementing the Art and Music programming taking place at school.
Students in Grades 7-9 spend Wednesdays, Fridays and alternate Mondays at home, focusing on Language Arts, Math, Physical Education & Wellness, and options courses.
